Our Quartets

Island Hills Chorus LOVES its quartets!!! We currently have three active quartets, singing around the town and around the block. Our quartets are available to perform at your next event, party, meeting, or just to serenade that special someone on a special day!  Any event would be enhanced by these intimate four-part harmonies.

Close Enough

close retouch

When asked the question, “How many are in your quartet?”, Close Enough actually does have a different answer. They simply say five! For the last two years, Close Enough has had two leads, Judi Ancewicz and Caroline Gulian joining tenor, Cyndy Gorman, Baritone, Madeline Nelson, and bass, Toby Selda.  With Judi’s peripatetic life style, Close Enough needed a fill in and then decided they liked the sound of five people singing! Close Enough is known for their song parodies. They love singing about the problems of aging and were actually featured on Channel 12 News for that reason. They truly enjoy entertaining people and making them laugh. Having been together for over 25 years, they attribute their longevity to their motto, “It’s all about fun and friendship!”

Call Madeline at 631-261-6747 if you are looking for a unique quartet...well, close enough to a quartet.

Spellbound has been a registered Sweet Adelines quartet for over 14 years.  Lead Bonnie Cassar, Tenor Sue Pedersen, Baritone Judy Smith-Stenger, and Bass Edyie Duff love their weekly rehearsals and enjoy adding new songs to their repertoire.  Spellbound's strong sense of performance and harmony help them create a resonant, unified sound that entertains all who hear them.  For performance information, click here to contact Sue or call at 631.724.0499

Wildfire                                                    Wildfire Quartet is Island Hills Chorus' newest quartet. "It took us longer to agree on a name than anything else!" laughs Patricia Field, Wildfire's baritone, "But," says Linda Martella, the group's tenor, "in the things that matter we're perfectly balanced."  Each member of the quartet is very different and each adds a special piece to the puzzle that makes Wildfire work: Tenor Linda Martella brings an artistic focus and sense of performance to the group. Linda has a sense of style and the ability to keep the group focused on its goals, making sure they look great while they do it; the group's newest addition, Bass Liz Stanwycks, brings experience, enthusiasm, barbershop-know-how, and a solid vocal resonance to Wildfire's process; Felicia Redfield, Wildfire's Lead, identifies herself as the eternal optimist a.k.a. 'the nudge'- she urges the group on with her motto of 'Just Do It!' and the quartet's Baritone, Patricia Field, exemplifies the 'wild' in Wildfire. Pat sees things from a very creative point of view that flows in many forms, including the original songs that she has written for the group. Focus, Enthusiasm, Possibility, and Creativity define Wildfire Quartet. "We love barbershop, we love singing together, and we love this art form...it just doesn't get any better!"
